For a new startup this is a stage that requires a great deal of activity by the accountants. Your new Mexican company should provide in its articles of incorporation for a power of attorney for the principal accountant to perform the following tasks:
- Register the new company with the tax authorities and obtain its tax registration number.
- Obtain the company’s electronic signature.
- Register the company as an employer with the Mexican Social Security Institute and obtain its employer’s registration number.
- Register the company’s electronic invoicing and expense deductions system & obtain the corresponding certificate.
- Contract a company (which must approved by the tax authority) for the invoicing system.
From day one, the accountants would perform day to day bookkeeping, provide periodic monthly financial information and comply monthly with all tax requirements. This would apply until such time that you decide to have your own accounting and administrative staff.
